Maple

The Wood:

The timber is strong, heavy, hard, straight grained, and fine-textured. Often highly figured with “eyes”. Known for its durability and strength. Density 720kg/m3

The Tree:

Also called Hard Rock Maple or Sugar Maple. Produces sweet sap used to make maple syrup. Matures at heights of 90-120 feet (27.4-36.5m) with a trunk of 24-36 inches (610-914mm).

Colour:

The heartwood is light reddish-brown, the sapwood creamy white with slight reddish-brown tinge. The amount of darker heartwood can vary significantly according to growing region.

Typical uses:

Kitchens, industrial parts, joinery, furniture, flooring.
