The Wood:

The grain is usually interlocked, occasionally straight and the texture rather coarse. Density 560kg/m3.

The Tree:

Can grow to heights of 164 feet (50m); bark is smooth, powdery, white, or grey, shedding in short ribbons or flakes, sometimes persistent on the lower trunk

Colour:

It has a pale-yellow sapwood, which is fairly well defined from the light rose-brown heartwood

Typical uses:

Flooring, joinery, kitchens, decking, furniture.
